Miracles of wonder and beauty happen all the time. Sometimes all we need to do is look up!
From the Big Sky Country of Montana, electronic musician Cloudwalk presents his debut album. Take a journey in sound, as each track chronicles the evolution of the sky over a mid-summer day. Skyscapes opens your eyes to drifting clouds overhead and then takes you on flights of imagination into high altitudes, ever-shifting winds, interplays of sunlight and shadow, and even the heart of a thunderstorm.
All of the tracks in Skyscapes were recorded in 2012 and 2013 as live improvisations in the studio. Except for the field recording of the thunderstorm, there is no overdubbing or digital sequencing, and very little musical editing. What you will hear is intuitive music unfolding in the moment, much as it did in the studio.
Cloudwalk employs a mix of older analog and digital synthesizers, combined with modern software instruments to create these multi-keyboard performances that are inspired by the vast, open skies of eastern Montana's plains, where he grew up. To set the scene further, he also captured the real sounds of thunder and rain from an active storm just outside of his home in Billings, Montana.
